Juba Parents School

Juba Parents School - A Strong Foundation

Background

Juba Parents’ School was opened in 2012 with about 30 children in the Nursery section. In 2013, the number of the children grew rapidly to 100 children making it difficult to operate from its initial center at Hai Mayo.

The management moved the school its current location at Yei Road, opposite auto crown. Because of the quality  education we offer, by term one 2016 we had 300 pupils; 180 in kindergarten and 120 children in primary.

The recruitment of quality teachers from East Africa boosted the school yet further. Before the war in 2016, the total population of children was 350, then after the war the number drastically went back to 60 children. Most parents opted to transfer their children to East Africa due to insecurity at that time.

Why the School Opened

  1. The school was started to cater for the growing number of South Sudanese children in Juba who still need their parental care and advice before they can later get to a boarding school.
  2. To promote out door learning and indoor learning..
  3. To cater for kids from 18months giving opportunity for parents to work with less stress knowing their kids are in safe hands.

Staffing

The school has 45 teaching staff, 12 Non-teaching. In addition the school is allowing contracting 20 vans whose drivers work closely with the school administration. They are also like school staff

Operations

Juba Parents School operates using the local South Sudanese syllabus integrated with east African curricula to reduce the transfer of toddlers form South Sudan to the  neighboring countries in search for quality schools at ages so tender.

Currently, JPS hires teachers with experience in the regional curricula from Ugandan, Kenya and South Sudan. This is also aimed at providing employment opportunities to the local people and also to help the local teachers to gain experience from these teachers.

The school runs with a different time table i.e. parallel to the rest but with special consideration to the national education program. i.e.  From January to December.

The school runs three academic terms and each term comprises twelve weeks and 3-4 weeks of break giving opportunity to

  • Parents to spend time with their children
  • Parents and guardians to gather tuition/school fees for the following term
  • Children to learn house work duties and also rest from the routine school commuting
